Welcome to Bangor Alternative Baseball Organization
What Is Alternative Baseball?
Alternative Baseball provides an authentic baseball experience for teens and adults (ages 15+) with autism and other disabilities. Bangor AB is the first such team in Maine. We practice at Mansfield Stadium on Sundays from 4-6pm. (The 2021 Season drew to a close on October 24, 2021.)
Coaches Mike Vining, Tim Collins, and Kevin Stevenson are well-known in the State of Maine for their knowledge and experience working with players and organizations that provide sports opportunities for kids and adults. These men grew up in Maine and have spent more than two decades coaching and teaching baseball and softball. They have teamed up to bring about the first ever ABO program to the State of Maine, in what we desire to see become a league of its own. Our players have already benefitted from their expertise, and from the help of players from Husson University at the practices, as well as coaches from other schools, as available.
Alternative Baseball provides an authentic baseball experience for teens and adults (ages 15+) with autism and other disabilities for physical and social skills enrichment in life on and off the baseball diamond. In Alternative Baseball, games are played using professional league rules.
