Welcome to Bangor Alternative Baseball Organization

What Is Alternative Baseball?

Alternative Baseball provides an authentic baseball experience for teens and adults (ages 15+) with autism and other disabilities for physical and social skills enrichment in life on and off the baseball diamond. In Alternative Baseball, games are played using professional league rules.

The league was founded by Taylor Duncan in 2016. If you or someone you know wants to become a player, go to https://www.alternativebaseball.org/player-pool and complete the form provided.

What Is Bangor Alternative Baseball?

Bangor Alternative Baseball (BAB) is the first such team in Maine, founded in 2021. We practice at Mansfield Stadium on Sundays from 4-6pm.

BAB is blessed to have veteran coaches heading up the staff and students from local universities and high schools assisting them to give BAB players the best possible experience.

Our goals are to help men and women in the region enjoy the game and reap the benefits of physical and social skills enrichment; expand the numbers of teams to create more opportunities for statewide involvement and competition, and involve our communities in doing life together through volunteer service. There’s really little like watching Alternative Baseball or Unified Athletics to see the joy of sportsmanship, healthy competition, and kind service to one another to lift our spirits and see the best in others!
